ALTERNATIVES TO PUNISHMENT
Thursday, June 11, 6-8pm
Parents will look at a balanced approach to discipline and learn alternative ways to positively communicate our expectations. We look at how punishment breeds resentment and other forms of consequences teach respect and self control. Parents explore their own values as the authority and set goals to become more effective.  This workshop is designed for parents of children of all ages.

Here at Inspired Birth and Families, we seek to be your main resource for all things pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. We want to help you at every step. We wish we could do it for free! But that's not realistic for us, our teachers, our advertising partners and we're confident you understand that. Fortunately, we DO have some free resources and events and hope you'll make use of them. Our intent is that they support you and that they build community.

• 2nd Nine Months Tea - for all new parents. Come chat, nurse, sip tea and learn from us and other parents. Sometimes we'll have a theme and sometimes we'll let converstaion just flow and lead the way. This is the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10am.
• Movie Nights - educational and entertaining. You never know what you'll learn from the film and the conversation.
• Local Resources Page - see who is offering what service in town
• Community Calendar - for free or non-profit supporting events.
• Class Resources Page - articles, products and general information links discussed in some of our classes. Can't make the babyfood class? See some of what we discussed here. Not sure if the Traditional Foods class is for you? Check out some info on this page to help you decide!
• Lending Library - it's free to browse and sit and read. $10 to join forever and take some home with you. Topics include pregnancy, birth, babyfood, nutrition, parenting, first years, immunizations and so much more.
• Past Articles and Newsletters - we have great plans for this, but even now there's lots of useful information here for everyone.
• Discussion forum - Our boards aren't crazy busy, but there's useful tidbits on local pediatricians, nursing, herbs and more.
• Other FREE events - we try to have periodic free events, like this month's Families Today fair. We've also had a general open house, a Healthy Families fair and more. Keep your eyes on September's fair to help families live naturally on a budget!
